A new project for an office complex has been approved in order to develop the Callaghan Square area in Cardiff. Six office building will come up in St. Mary Street, and combined they would occupy more than 16,000 sq feet of land. The project is priced at £160 million.

The project has been awarded to MPEC, and most of the voters in the area seem to be happy with the new development.

Each building in the complex will have up to a dozen stories. They are expected to attract good prices from potential corporate buyers, and the first building is reported to have already been purchased to be used as shared office space at a price of £9.8 million.

Some changes had to be made to the project plan after all the approvals had been given, as some of the councillors wanted a landmark building in the area. This also meant that the company had to take a new approval for building taller and slimmer structures.

As part of the project, parking lots, eating joints, and shops are also being built, which will result in a significant change in Callaghan Square.

However, the project will disrupt a school and a section of the local railway in the area. The railway route will need an adjustment and this could mean that operations would be suspended for some time, which is likely to cause problems for the commuters.
